Artigos 2013. A Semana de Urbanismo de 1935: polêmicas, legados e lições para o urbanismo do século XXI

Resumo

O presente texto busca resgatar a história e o legado da Semana de Urbanismo de 1935. Evento que buscou trazer uma nova forma de compreender a cidade, a sua realização reuniu Poder Público e Sociedade Civil numa série de conferências, apresentando e debatendo propostas para alguns dos principais problemas da época. Hoje, passados 75 anos da realização da Semana, alguns dos problemas e soluções ali apontados permanecem atuais. Diante desta constatação, esse texto buscou pontuar, a partir das conferências originais e de pesquisadores que abordaram a Semana, as principais polêmicas sobre o evento, o seu legado original e as suas lições. Ao final, busca-se apontar dois temas inspirados nas ideias da Semana de Urbanismo de 1935.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is rescue the history and the legacy of Week of Urbanism, promoted in 1935. The event, that had as intention bring a new way to understand the city, was promoted by Government and institutions from Civil Society. A series of speeches debated some of the main problems at the time. Today, over past 75 years from the event, some of the problems that was discussed still here and now. Facing this conclusion, this text has as a goal indicate, from the original speeches and the analysis of researchers who study the theme, the main controversies about the event, its original legacy and its lessons. At the end, the text brings two themes that have its inspiration on the Week of Urbanism.
